1553 Series Enclosures

The 1553 series of Hammond enclosures are crafted to provide optimal comfort and functionality for handheld applications. With their ergonomic design and a variety of size options, these enclosures offer a versatile solution for your electronic projects. 

The 1553 series are moulded in ABS plastic, in a choice of black or grey, with matching screws. This attention to detail ensures that the overall appearance of your enclosure remains sleek and professional. These enclosures also feature a soft plastic over-mould that provides a comfortable and secure grip.  

The enclosures feature a recessed top cover, specifically designed to accommodate membrane displays or keypads. This detail allows for easy visibility and operation of your HMI (human-machine interface). Furthermore, the removable front panel provides effortless access and the option for modifications, making it simple to customise and adapt the enclosure to suit your exact requirements. 

Hammond enclosures are supplied with moulded PCB standoffs, ensuring secure and stable mounting of your circuit boards (mounting screws are not included). These standoffs are strategically placed to provide optimal support for your electronic components. Each enclosure also includes a removable front panel, for simple modifications, and assembly of hardware, excluding the 1553A, to simplify the assembly process and save you time. 

All sizes of the 1553 series of Hammond enclosures come with the option of including or excluding a battery compartment, except 1553A. This flexibility enables you to accommodate the power source within the enclosure itself, streamlining your design and creating a more integrated solution. The battery door and compartment version include four battery clips for two AA batteries and a 9V (PP3) battery clip.

Hammond provides the 1553W series for projects that require water-tight enclosures, meeting IP65 standards, providing protection against water jets from a nozzle of 6.3mm from any direction at 30kPa. These enclosures offer the same reliable functionality and customisation options as the standard series, ensuring optimal protection in wet or demanding environments.
